REVIEW & SWATCHES: Tartelette In Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette

Hey beauty lovers!

I've been wanting this palette since it's first release in the U.S. It was finally released at Sephora late last year but I had been purchasing so much make-up from the VIB sale, coupons, etc. that, when it was released, I couldn't justify making the purchase. I went on another make-up purchasing binge in February, so my friend and I agreed to go on a one month no buy last week, and I decided that I needed to bite the bullet and purchase this palette before I started. I'm so glad that I did because I've been using it every single day since receiving it in the mail!

The Tartelette In Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette retails for C$54 at www.sephora.ca. Packaging is stunning! Both the box and the palette itself. I held on for the box for days because it was so beautiful until I realized that I don't need a hoarding problem in addition to my make-up addiction.

The shadows are extremely pigmented using only one swipe with the exception of some of the flesh-toned shades (Charmer and Flower Child, swatched with 2-3 swipes of product) that take a bit more work to achieve an opaque colour payoff. All of the shadows, however, are super soft and buttery to the touch and apply very smooth. The shimmer shades are probably my favourite thing about the palette. They're absolutely stunning and add a lot of dimension to any eye look. I particularly like applying the shimmer shades wet by spraying my brush with MAC Cosmetics Fix+ before dipping into the shadow which gives the shadows a stunning "foiled" effect. I have super oily eyelids so I always apply eyeshadow primer before applying eyeshadow. I've been using the Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion under these shadows and, after wearing them all day for several days, I don't find that they show any signs of creasing, fading, or patchiness. I also haven't experienced any fallout when using these shadows wet or dry. An added bonus is the scent of this palette! It's so hard to describe the smell, but it's good. I almost wanna say it smells a little bit like cocoa powder with a hint of something... I'm just not sure what that something is.

My most used shadows from this palette so far are Sweetheart in the crease and lower lash line and Funny Girl (applied w/ Fix+) on the lid and inner corner. I also add a little bit of Rebel in the outer V and outer half of the lower lash line when I want my eyes to be a little more dramatic.

Unfortunately. I don't own the original Tartelette palette to compare, so I won't be able to speak about which of the two is the better palette. I do think that the Tartelette In Bloom palette is a fantastic all-in-one palette. It's a great, versatile palette with both matte and shimmer shades and can create extremely natural looks to very dramatic looks.

Do you own this palette? What do you think of it? How does it compare to the original Tartelette? Let me know!

Marian
